Contextual advertising in Russia growth of 63%
The Russian (PPC) Internet advertising platform “Begun” (Begun.ru), announced for new an analytical study of the Russian and Ukrainian contextual advertising markets for 2011.
The survey included a description of the most actual and promising promotional products (geo context ads, mobile advertising, “Begun TV” and others). The Review based on data from the “Begun” analytical center, and the media research companies.
According to Begun, size of the Russian advertising market in 2011 amounted to 263.4 billion rubles without VAT (evaluation of the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia). This is almost 21% more than the previous year. The advertising market for the first time exceeded pre-crisis rates in 2008 (4%).
According to the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia, the Internet advertising also showed impressive growth. The Internet advertising in Russia jumped from fourth to second place among the ads segments.
The volume of Internet advertising market in 2011 – 41.8 billion rubles (56% more than in 2010). Of these, for media advertising 15.3 billion rubles (growth – 45%), the context advertising – 26.5 billion rubles (growth – 63%).
The main tendency of the previous year – expanding the arsenal of technical content. Begun.ru, Google, and Yandex have proposed new advertising formats in the video, mobile websites, mobile applications, geo-location services. These PPC platforms now offer more precise geo targeting.

Facebook and VKontakte (VK) develop their own advertising systems; advertisers are learning how to take into account the specifics of user behavior and communication in social networks to more effectively promote their businesses.
